Radio Station Won't Play on my Land

You've found a radio station in iTunes, and it plays in iTunes and sets the music URL on your land, but it won't play in Second Life!

The quick solution is to just try a different radio station.

Here is why it happens:

Second Life will only play MP3 streams, and some radio stations chose other less-standard formats like "AAC+". Here is an example from Shoutcast.com:

You will notice that the first station, "Holiday Sounds", has "AAC+" as its type, and it will not play. However "The 70s Channel" has "MP3" as its type, and it will play.

There is nothing that can be done to fix this, Second Life simply does not support AAC+. You should chose another radio station.

Note that you can't tell in iTunes if a stream is AAC+; fortunately most (98%) streams are MP3.

Also:

Look at "Listeners/Max", many stations only allow a small number of people to listen at once. Planet Hits lets a 1,000 people listen at once, but many will only let 10 or so. It could be the radio station has reached its max number of listeners!

And Sometimes:

Sometimes also some internet radio stations just don't have very good connections (particularly small stations), or it is a busy day on the internet, causing radio stations to drop out. Your best bet if a station doesn't work is to try another station, perhaps a bigger station.

And also sometimes problems with listening to Internet radio on your land can be cleared up just by closing and restarting Second Life.
